State Rep. David W. Martin (R-Davison) today cast a key vote to protect women’s sports in Michigan. House Bills 4066 and 4469 would prohibit biological males from competing in girls’ high school sports and incorporate Title IX protections for women’s sports into the Michigan Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act.

“We owe it to our daughters to keep them safe and provide them with an even playing field,” Martin said. “The vast majority of the public knows this is common-sense. We cannot allow a small faction of radicals to jeopardize our daughters’ safety and success for the sake of their ideology.”

Both bills passed the Michigan House on Thursday afternoon and will head to the Senate.

“I’ll always support women’s sports, and the rights guaranteed under Title IX,” Martin said. “Women fought hard for years to obtain these protections and have their own sports programs, and I will continue fighting to protect women’s sports from mediocre male athletes.”
